CLEVELAND - Most of us look forward to spending the holidays with our friends and family. Can you imagine being a child and spending your holidays in the hospital?
NewsChannel5 has teamed up with KinderCare Learning Centers to put a little joy in those children's holidays. It started out as a small idea that has grown beyond their expectations.
More than 3,700 teddy bears were collected at KinderCare centers around northeast Ohio. Those stuffed animals were delivered to Akron Children's Hospital and the Cleveland Clinic to be distributed to sick children.
Gerri Sexton, of Akron Children's Hospital, said with the delivery of 1,500 bears to her hospital, they will last beyond the holidays.
"This Christmas and throughout the year, I mean, this will be enough animals to make many, many children happy," Sexton said.
