CLEVELAND - The Cleveland Branch of the FBI arrested 28 suspected of trafficking cocaine and heroin in drug sweeps conducted early Thursday.
Three suspects are still at large, the FBI notes:
Rueben Bell, 30 years old, 170 pounds, 5'6"
Latoya Johnson, 30 years old, 131 pounds, 5'9"
James McClain, 32, 165 pounds, 6'
Anyone with information about the whereabouts of these three suspects is asked to call the Cleveland FBI at 216-522-1400.
Authorities said at a press conference Thursday that the investigation started in 2010 and involved shipments of drugs from Chicago; McAllen, Tex.; and Toledo.
Investigators seized more than 7 kilograms of heroin, a kilogram of cocaine and 10 guns. Prosecutors are also seeking to forfeit more than $750,000 and three cars seized in the investigation.
The ring used "stash houses" in Cleveland at 3991 Superior Ave., 1481 E. 71st St., 1162 E. 58th St. and 7610 Linwood Ave. and used proceeds to purchase buildings at 1687 E. 70th St., 1075 E. 74th St. and 3800 Lakeside Ave., Suite 200.
Authorities said that the leaders were Mark Makupson, Harry Hubbard and Harvest White.
Cleveland is facing what's being called a heroin epidemic, with the rate of heroin deaths increasing fivefold in six years.
