CLEVELAND - The 16-year-old boy who has been charged in the murder of a 16-year-old girl in Cleveland last week has been ordered to stay behind bars.
On Monday, a judge in juvenile court ordered the teen to be remanded to the detention center after a hearing at 8:30 a.m.
Police said the 16-year-old shot 16-year-old Jennifer Zacarias multiple times in the head and neck area at about 12:15 a.m. Friday. Her father found her in the backyard of their West 102nd Street home after hearing the gunshots.
Zacarias was taken the hospital, where she died a short time later.
The teen suspect was arrested blocks away later in the morning. He isn't being named by police due to being a juvenile.
Police said Zacarias and the suspect knew each other.
Zacarias' family told NewsChannel5 they weren't sure of the extent of the teens' relationship.
She was a junior at John Marshall High School.
