ELYRIA, Ohio - Elyria residents will soon be visited by a group a volunteers who will work to improve their neighborhood.
Volunteers will help rehab a number of homes and yards on South Maple Street and Gates Avenue on Friday, Sept. 28, 2012.
Dozens are expected to lend a hand painting homes, repairing porch railings, replacing gutters, fixing roofs and siding, landscaping and weeding.
The effort is part of NewsChannel 5's Building Better Neighborhoods Initiative.
The event is being coordinated by The City of Elyria .
The volunteer team will be led by NewsChannel 5 anchor Chris Flanagan, Troubleshooter Joe Pagonakis and several other NewsChannel 5 employees.
Volunteers are welcome to work between 8:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Volunteers will check in at The Boys & Girls Club located at 1821 Middle Avenue in Elyria.

Materials and cash donations for the project are being accepted by The City of Elyria.
