Top vote getters: Revealing more Featured Neighborhoods in Building Better Neighborhoods project

It is week 2 and we are going back to 5 more of our 25 partnered cities to reveal our "Featured Neighborhood" winners during Live on Five and NewsChannel 5 at 6.

It is part of our Building Better Neighborhoods: Keeping You Safe Where You Live project.

People in each of our partnered cities had a chance to vote on newsnet5.com for 5 streets or neighborhoods to become our "Featured Neighborhood."'

On Monday, Tracy Carloss will reveal the winner in Brunswick. On Tuesday, Leon Bibb will be in Maple Heights. On Wednesday, Lee Jordan goes back to Elyria. Danita Harris will be in Mentor-On-The-Lake on Thursday and on Friday, Chris Flanagan will report from the winning neighborhood in Barberton.

In each city, town or village we visited, city officials and the police department targeted 5 streets or neighborhoods and agreed to hold a safety meeting or help residents form block watches as part of our project.

Police chiefs have told us time and time again, that effective crime prevention starts in our neighborhoods. When residents get to know their neighbors, know each others routines, and look out for each other, it makes for a safer neighborhood.

In fact, one of our partnered cities, Cleveland Heights, recently reported about daytime burglaries happening in the city on its Facebook page. The post included these words: "Pass the word to your neighbors to stay alert."
