CLEVELAND - 25 cities, 25 days. Our Building Better Neighborhoods: Keeping You Safe Where You Live project starts our fourth week April 14 with Tracy Carloss visiting Wadsworth.
On Tuesday, Lee Jordan will go to Columbia Township. Tracy Carloss shows us around Spencer on Wednesday, Danita Harris goes to Eastlake on Thursday and Leon Bibb takes a look around Parma on Friday.
This project is about connecting residents with their city officials, safety forces and each other.
Each city, town, village or township that has partnered with NewsChannel 5 on this project is holding a safety meeting for 5 neighborhoods it has chosen to come together for this. After each city is featured, people then have a chance to vote on newsnet5.com for one of those neighborhoods to become the NewsChannel 5 featured neighborhood. The neighborhood with the most votes, gets a Building Better Neighborhoods sign.
The Ohio Attorney General's office is also a partner on this project. It is providing safety information cards for the community meetings and or sending a speaker to talk to residents about what this state office can do for them.
Since this project is also about connecting residents to each other, NewsChannel 5 has partnered with the free social networking app Nextdoor, which allows people to connect on the web or on their iPhone or
Android device in a safe, secure way.
