25 neighborhoods, 25 days: NewsChannel 5 to reveal "Featured Neighborhoods", starting May 19

We're back!  This time it is 25 neighborhoods, in 25 days. NewsChannel5's Building Better Neighborhoods: Keeping You Safe Where You Live continues on May 19.

NewsChannel5 anchors Danita Harris, Chris Flanagan, Lee Jordan, Leon Bibb and Tracy Carloss will be back in each of our 25 partnered cities to reveal which streets got the most votes in our newsnet5.com polls. Our anchors will be live in that winning neighborhood during our 6 p.m. broadcast. It starts Monday, May 19 and continues through June 20.

For a recap of our 25 cities, 25 days segments, visit www.newsnet5.com/bbn.

This project required city officials and police in each of our partnered cities to identify five neighborhoods to bring together for a safety meeting or to help them form block watches.

Residents in each city then had the chance to vote for one week at newsnet5.com for one street in each the neighborhood to become a featured street. The street or neighborhood with the most votes gets a sign from us, along with some other gifts, including a light up key chain from the free social network app, Nextdoor .

Voting from residents in each of our partnered cities really sparked a lot of interest. For example, there were 2,700 votes in Copley, over 1,800 in Painesville and even in the small town of Peninsula, with a population of less than 600 people, 414 votes were cast.

On Monday, May 19, Danita Harris will be back in Painesville, Tracy Carloss visits Lodi again on Tuesday, Chris Flanagan goes to Peninsula on Wednesday, Leon Bibb travels back to Chagrin Falls on Thursday and Lee Jordan takes us back to Avon on Friday.

Watch NewsChannel5 during Live on Five for hints as to which neighborhood we are in. Continue watching at at 6 p.m. when the winning street or neighborhood will be revealed.
