A woman is in serious condition after police said a man shot her as she tried to escape him.
The 45-year-old woman pulled into her Akron driveway at around 10 p.m. Monday when a man approached her with a gun and demanded her purse.
The woman refused, and he hit her, police said. Then, she tried to run, and he shot her in the rear.
The suspect fled and the woman was taken to Akron General Hospital in serious condition.
The suspect is described as a black male between 17 and 20 years old, 5 feet, 5 inches tall and 135 pounds. He was wearing a black top and black pants.
