A University of Akron student who went to the Rio Olympics has taken the bronze in the men's 800 meter.
Clayton Murphy, from a small town near Dayton named New Paris, is now an Olympic medalist. Monday night, he became the first American to medal in the race since 1992. His time was 1:46.18.

In July, Reporter Bob Jones spoke with Murphy. Jones learned earlier that month, Murphy, 21, won the 800-meter title at the United States Olympic Track and Field Trials in Eugene, Ore. His victory made him the first Zip track and field athlete to qualify for the Olympics.
