AKRON, Ohio - Three people were injured when the car they were in crashed into two other cars. It happened at the intersection of Brittain Road and Evans Avenue around midnight Thursday in Akron.
According to Akron police, the female driver of a black Pontiac was southbound on Brittain Road when she hit a green Ford that was stopped at the red light at Evans Avenue. The impact sent the Ford, with three people inside, crashing head-on into a pickup truck that was driving northbound on Brittain Road.
The three people in the Ford and the driver of the pickup truck were not hurt.
The Pontiac continued south on Brittain Road before hitting a guardrail and finally stopping about 250 feet from the intersection. The driver and two passengers all suffered serious injuries and were taken to Akron hospitals.
Police said they were investigating if alcohol was a factor.
The road reopened just before 1:30 a.m. after all the debris was gathered up and cars towed from the area. The pickup driver was able to drive his truck from the scene.
