Police tweet out report after LeBron James' stepfather arrested in Miami

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. - Eddie Gene Jackson, the stepfather of NBA star and Akron native LeBron James, was arrested in Miami Beach for DUI and driving with a suspended license.

The 47-year-old Copley resident  was pulled over after a Miami Beach officer saw Jackson driving fast and braking hard to stop at an intersection.

According to the police report, Jackson handed the officer a "friend" badge from the Fraternal Order of Police.

He was arrested after refusing to perform the requisite roadside sobriety tests.

In November 2012, the Akron Beacon-Journal described him as a "one-time father figure" to LeBron James in a report about Jackson's DUI arrest in Bath, during which he smashed a state trooper's window. The same article says he served a three-year prison sentence starting in 2003 for charges related to a mortgage scam.

The report was tweeted by the Miami Beach Police, which you can read below or by clicking here.
