One woman is dead after a motorcycle crash in Akron Friday night

AKRON, Ohio - The traffic bureau of the Akron Police Department is investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that happened Friday night.

Police say the motorcycle crashed near the intersection of Hilbish Avenue and Triplett Boulevard around 9:30 p.m. Friday.

The driver of the Harley Davidson motorcycle, 54-year-old Martin D. McClain, and passenger 54-year-old Robin McClain, were traveling northbound on George Washington Boulevard approaching Triplett Boulevard in the right turn lane. The driver continued northbound on Triplett Boulevard, striking the curb, causing both driver and passenger to be thrown from the motorcycle.

Both driver and passenger were taken to Akron City Hospital where Robin McClain later died of her injuries. 

The accident remains under investigation.
The Summit County Medical Examiner's Office will conduct an autopsy.
