Off-duty Akron police sergeant and wife injured in crash

An Akron police sergeant and his wife were injured in a crash Sunday night.

According to Akron police, Sgt. Vince Yurick was driving his 2008 Ford Mustang GT in the 2100 block of Canterbury Circle when he lost control of his car and hit a tree.

Yurick and his wife were both injured.

They were both transported to Akron City Hospital for treatment. Yurick is listed in stable condition. His wife is in critical condition. 

Yurick is a 19-year veteran of the police department. He was placed on administrative leave with pay during the investigation. 

At this time, no charges have been filed. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
