Man, woman arrested on attempted murder charges after Streetsboro shooting

STREETSBORO, Ohio - Following an attempted murder in Streetsboro Wednesday morning, Akron police have arrested one man and the ex-wife of the victim for the crime.

Ronald Higginbottom II, 31, of Akron, was arrested after the shooting, which occurred around 3:50 a.m., according to Streetsboro police.

When authorities responded to the scene, in the 800 block of David Dr., they found Tracy Cresong, 35, of Streetsboro, with a gunshot wound.

Emergency personnel arrived on the scene and took him to Akron City Hospital by medical helicopter. His condition is unknown at this time.

An arrest warrant was then issued for Higginbottom, who was taken into custody by Akron police. He's been charged with attempted murder.

Cheryl Cresong, 34, of Akron, has been charged with complicity to attempted murder for allegedly helping Higgenbottom in committing the crime, said Streetsboro police. Cheryl Cresong is the ex-wife of the victim, Tracy, and there have apparently been ongoing custody disputes over their children and other issues between the two. Authorities said these disputes were the motive for the shooting of Tracy Cresong.

Both Higginbottom and Cheryl Cresong are behind bars at the Portage County Jail and will be arraigned in court on Wednesday.
