NORTH CANTON, Ohio - Santa Claus is full of secrets, but one of them has been unveiled. One of his elves happens to also be a business teacher at North Canton's Hoover High School.
Nicole Makowski came up with an idea that will bring smiles to faces of many local kids, while also funding the junior/senior prom.
For $5, parents can fill out or a Santa letter order form, which includes the child's name, address and a toy that he or she would like to receive for the holidays.
Makowski and some of her students will make sure that St. Nick gets the request and a personalized letter from Santa, along with a coloring page, will be mailed from the North Pole to the child's home. All of the proceeds will benefit this year's prom.
Makowski said she's surprised at how much attention her project is getting.
"This was just a tiny idea that I was just hoping made a little spark. I'm getting all these e-mails and media asking me about it. I'm taken back. I'm hoping it's successful," Makowski said.
If you're interested in signing up for the Santa letter, mail or drop off your order form at Hoover High School: 525 7th St. NE, North Canton, OH 44720.
The deadline to sign up is Dec. 7.
