How you can name new Akron RubberDucks mascot in online contest for Cleveland Indians Double-A team

AKRON, Ohio - Think you can come up with a better name than “Orbit the Space Cat” or “Homer the Inflatable Polka-Dotted Pigeon”? The Akron RubberDucks want to put you to the test.

Try your hand in their contest to name the new face of the Rubber City franchise, the Indians’ Double-A farm team.

But what exactly is the new mascot? Well, it’s a duck. However, its exact look won’t be fully revealed until Opening Night, April 10, at Canal Park.

In the meantime, they’re unveiling a cartoon version piece-by-piece daily on their website. Kinda like the Rachel Phelps cutout in “Major League”—minus the salaciousness.

To submit a name, send an email to newmascot@akronrubberducks.com with the name in the subject line and you contact information (name, address, phone number) in the email. You have until March 25 to send yours.

The top 5 names will be picked by the RubberDucks and go for an online vote from March 27 to April 4. The winner will be announced April 7.
