Homeowner pleads guilty to killing man who tried to rob him

A home invasion victim has pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter for shooting the man who tried to rob him in his home last August, according to the Summit County Prosecutor's Office. 

David Hillis 22, of Akron pleaded guilty on Wednesday to shooting and killing Marcus Glover following an attempted robbery at his home. 

On August 4, 2015, Hillis was at his home on Hilbish Avenue in Akron when Terry Tart and Glover forced their way in, according to the prosecutor's office. Tart and Glover robbed Hillis at gunpoint, and when they ran off, Hillis opened fire with his own gun. 

Glover was 70 yards away and no longer on Hillis' property when he was shot in the head and died from his injuries. 

Tart pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in connection with the incident on August 4, 2016.

Hillis is expected to be sentenced on October 7, 2016 at 10 a.m.
