CANTON, Ohio - Firefighters in Canton have been battling an out-of-control fire early Thursday morning.
The blaze has already spread to three houses, causing one to collapse and heavily damage two others in the 600 block of Arlington Avenue SW, firefighters tell NewsChannel5.
Canton FD says they originally thought people were in the collapsed house but don't believe that to be true now. They will sift through the rubble when the fires are out to make sure.
This is the third fire that has damaged multiple homes in Canton in as many weeks. Two separate fires damaged a total of 6 homes on Hazlett Ave NW on October, 25 and October, 31. All three fires are just a few blocks off of Tuscarawas Street and less than a mile separated the fire scene on Arlington Avenue SW and the two on Hazlett Avenue NW.
NewsChannel5 crews at the scene asked fire officials if they thought someone was intentionally setting the fires, they would only respond with, "something suspicious is going on." No cause has been determined from the two fires on Hazlett Avenue NW from late October.
No injuries have been reported.
