Canton police-involved crash sends two officers, two adults and three children to hospitals

CANTON, Ohio - Canton Police and the Canton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) are investigating a police-involved crash that sent two police officers, two adults and three children to various hospitals.

The crash happened Friday evening around 6:50 p.m. in the area of Clarendon Avenue and 17th Street N.W.

According to the OSHP, a Canton police cruiser driven by Officer Scott Jones, 26, and Officer Kevin Sedares, 43, were in emergency response mode with lights activated during a pursuit when they reportedly blew through a stop sign and crashed into a minivan.

The officers were transported to Affinity Medical Center by the Canton Fire Department with minor injuries.

The occupants of the minivan include two adults, two 1-year-old babies and a 5-year-old girl.
All five occupants were transported to Aultman Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

The driver officers were pursuing was arrested by assisting Canton police officers following the crash.

Officer Scott Jones was cited for a stop sign violation,
