AKRON, Ohio - Fifty pre-selected at-risk Akron high school senior girls will get a prom package from Savannah Brinson, the fiancee of NBA superstar LeBron James, as part of her inaugural "I PROMISE Makeover."
Brinson will host her inaugural event Tuesday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Embassy Parkway in Akron.
"I PROMISE Makeover" will give the young women a prom dress of their choice and assorted accessories for their upcoming senior proms, a way for Brinson to empower and inspire the seniors who may not have the means to prepare for prom on their own.
"Those four years of high school are such a formidable time in young ladies' lives, I wanted to do something to not only make them feel special, but to also give them confidence and encouragement to continue being the strong, smart young women they are," said Brinson in a news release at her Florida event. "This event allows me to really connect, empower, and celebrate girls who are about to embark on new life experiences. I just always want to cheerlead young girls into that next phase. The event also lets me share my passion for fashion and commitment to living a healthy lifestyle with them."
The inspiring program will also include speakers and presenters speaking about the importance of education, self-esteem and fashion.
Nail polish, makeup and gift bags, will also be given out at the event, along with a special commemorative pink I PROMISE bands, modeled after the signature I PROMISE bands worn by LeBron James. The wristbands symbolize across the country a personal commitment to creating positive change and to living active and healthy lifestyles.
If you or someone you know is interested in contributing new or gently used dresses for future Savannah's I PROMISE Makeover events, you can send them to the LRMR Offices at 3800 Embassy Parkway - Suite 360, Akron, Ohio 44333.
