Anthony Sanchez, 18, was charged by the Canton Police Department in connection to an aggravated robbery and officer-involved shooting at a home on 17th Street Northwest.

Police reported Sanchez was charged with one count each of aggravated robbery and aggravated burglary.

Canton officers fired shots after confronting armed robbery suspects at a home on 17th Street NW late Thursday.

Police were called to the home just before 11:15 p.m. by a resident who said their neighbor was the victim of an armed robbery.

When officers arrived, they confronted "several armed suspects," according to police.

Shots were fired by the officers and possibly by the suspects. After a short foot chase, one suspect was caught.

One resident was injured and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Police believed other suspects were still in the house, so they called the Canton SWAT Cooperative to respond. SWAT officers attempted negotiations but, after no response, fired several rounds of gas into the home.

The SWAT team then entered but found no one inside.

This is an ongoing investigation.
