The Summit County Prosecutor's Office announced on Thursday that an Akron Police Officer was justified in shooting a man that attacked a Humane Society Officer in March.
In March, McCullen Webb attacked Humane Society Officer Timothy Harland when he walked up to Harland's parked vehicle and struck Harland with a shovel before using a knife to cut him on the head, face and arms. Harland spent several days in the hospital recovering from his injuries.
Webb also used a barbell to shatter the windshield of Webb's vehicle. After officers repeatedly ordered Webb to drop his knife, an Akron Police Officer shot him in the leg. Prosecutor Walsh's announcement on Thursday stated that this action was justified.
On September 15, Webb pled guilty to a charge of felonious assault with a second-degree felony repeat violent offender specification. Webb was sentenced on Thursday to six years in prison.
