Police are investigating multiple home invasions that occurred in the city of Akron overnight, one of which ended in a shooting.

Around 10 p.m. Wednesday officers responded to a home in the 1300 block of Sprague Street near Bowmanville Street for a report of a shooting.

The female resident told police that two black men, both dressed in all black clothing entered her home with guns drawn, asking for a male. The suspects then ransacked the house, shooting the 28-year-old man in the hand and leg before fleeing.

He was transported to Akron City Hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.

One of the suspects was described as about 5-foot 7-inches tall, the other was described as being about 5-foot 9-inches tall. Both were wearing sweatshirts with the hoods pulled around their faces.

Another break-in was reported around 2 a.m. in the 900 block of Seward Avenue. The 30-year-old woman reported that she heard someone banging on her outside door so she locked her bedroom door and called police.

She heard the suspects enter the house and then they forced their way into her bedroom. The armed men demanded money and ransacked her bedroom, taking a lockbox and sunglasses before leaving, police said.

The woman's two children—her 14-year-old daughter and 4-year-old son—were home at the time of the break-in.

One suspect was described as a light-complexioned black man wearing all black. The other suspect was wearing all black and a red Air Jordan jacket.

Anyone with information is asked to call Akron police at (330) 375-2552.
