AKRON, Ohio - Akron police have arrested a man wanted in connection to a West Market Street McDonald's murder.

Johnnl Lewis was arrested by authorities late Tuesday night on South High Street.

Police said Lewis tried opening the rear door of the fast-food restaurant on April 6 when he was confronted by an employee who was taking out the trash.

Authorities said that's when Lewis pulled his gun and shot John Lehman to death before fleeing the scene.

Lehman's uncle and former foster father said the arrest is a relief.

"We were proud of John. To find out he actually died attempting to protect other McDonald's employees -- it's extremely admirable."

According to a police report, Lewis gave them a videotaped confession.

Lewis is facing murder and aggravated robbery charges.
