Akron pizza delivery worker shot during robbery

An Akron pizza delivery worker was shot during a robbery Monday night in the 700 block of Crane Walk.

Mark Murray, an employee of Papa John's, was making a delivery around 10:10 p.m. when he was robbed at gunpoint and shot several times, according to a police report.

Murray, 59, of Barberton, was taken to Summa Akron City Hospital. Murray's condition has not been released, but he is expected to survive, according to Captain Dan Zampelli.

An unknown amount of money was stolen.

Police collected shell casings at the scene and took the victim's car to check for possible evidence.

Investigators have not made any arrests or named any suspects in the shooting.

The police reports lists the suspect as black male between 19 and 25 years old wearing a black hoodie.

Anyone with information is asked to call Summit County Crimestoppers at 330-434-COPS. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward up to $2,000.
