A standoff with a man wanted for kidnapping, felonious assault and domestic violence has ended peacefully.
Police said he was alone in the Seward Avenue apartment for nearly 6 hours as police tried to talk him out.
At around 10 a.m., Akron police heard that 27-year-old Thomas Blanton, who is wanted on felonies, was in an apartment. They responded and the suspect refused to come out, they said.
The SWAT team used a PA system and phones to talk him out. He emerged at around 5:15 p.m.
Police said he had at least one gun in the house. They evacuated a few neighbors while the standoff is ongoing.
Blanton is on his way to Summit County Jail.
