Akron Beacon Journal names Cincinnati native Mark Cohen new publisher

AKRON, Ohio - The Akron Beacon Journal has named a Seattle news executive as its publisher.
The newspaper said Monday that Mark Cohen will become publisher Nov. 18.
The 57-year-old Cohen is a Cincinnati native who is chief operating officer and vice president of operations of the Seattle-based Pioneer Newspaper Group.
Cohen started his career as a sales executive with The Cincinnati Enquirer. He has worked for Thomson Newspapers, was advertising and marketing director of the Florida Times-Union in Jacksonville, and was vice president of advertising for more than 100 weeklies and six dailies in the Boston market for GateHouse Media.
He succeeds Andrea Mathewson, who retired.
