AKRON, Ohio - An armed robbery at an Akron business put three area schools on lockdown Monday morning.
Two male suspects robbed at gunpoint Firestone Park IGA, located at 1028 Hammel St., shortly after 8 a.m. Monday, according to a police report.
After entering the business, one suspect ordered the employees to the ground. The other suspect jumped over the counter and entered the office. Both took an unreported amount of money before leaving the store and fleeing on foot into the neighborhood.
Both suspects are black men about 5 foot 5 inches tall and between 150 to 180 pounds. One suspect wore all black clothing and a mask while the second suspect wore a gray hooded sweatshirt and a mask.
Three areas schools decided to undergo a lockdown after learning of the robbery. The schools have since lifted the lockdown.
