A 51-year-old woman is dead after crashing her car into a tree in Akron.
According to police, the woman was traveling southbound on North Portage Path sometime between 3 and 4 a.m. when she lost control, jumped a curb, went through a lawn and struck a tree.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The airbags were deployed but the driver was not wearing a seatbelt, police said. She was the only one in the car at the time of the crash.
Police say speed does appear to be a factor.
Authorities have not yet released the name of the victim.
