CINCINNATI - Police in Cincinnati say a former University of Akron student-athlete was fatally shot in a possible home-invasion over the weekend.
Around 8 a.m. Sunday, police say two suspects broke into and ransacked the home of 19-year-old Vincent Turnage.
Police told NewsChannel5 sister station WCPO that Turnage was coming out of the basement door when he was shot. He died at the scene.
Turnage played football and ran track at Mt. Healthy High School. According to the University of Akron athletics website, Turnage was a on the roster as a sprinter on the school's track team.
An University of Akron spokeswoman told NewsChannel5 that Turnage was not enrolled during the fall semester.
Friends told reporters he was home from school on a visit. Police say they don't know yet why Turnage was shot.
