AKRON, Ohio - A 12-year-old girl was grabbed by a man as she was walking to school Wednesday morning, according to Akron Public Schools.
The sixth-grader is recovering at Akron Children's Hospital after what authorities are calling an attempted sexual assault.
The girl was near Innes Middle School before 7 a.m. and the man came up to her and told her he was a security guard. A school spokesperson said that he grabbed her and took her to an adjacent park about 150 yards away.
According to school officials, a 13-year-old boy spotted the girl running back to school and stopped to help her. He waited with her for police to arrive and is being called a "little hero."
The assailant is described as a light-skinned black male aged 25 to 30 and weighing more than 200 pounds.
