11/12/13: Akron judge performing 'once a century' wedding ceremonies on Tuesday

AKRON, Ohio - It only happens "once in a century," she says, and so to commemorate the special occasion, an Akron judge will don the rob as Justice of the Peace for a day.

Akron Municipal Court Judge Kathryn Michael will start performing weddings—each one about 15 minutes long—at 10 a.m. in the Harold K. Stubbs Justice Center on High Street in Akron.

That's because Tuesday is November 12, 2013: 11/12/13.

Michael says, in a news release, the date "has its own special meaning."

The municipal court performs more than 500 ceremonies a year, according to the news release.

The ceremonies on Tuesday will cost $25 for every couple living inside the municipal court's jurisdiction, which includes Akron, Fairlawn, Bath Twp., Richfield Twp., Springfield Twp., Lakemore village, Richfield village and the part of Mogadore in Summit County.

The fee is $40 for those living outside of the jurisdiction.
