The first two pediatric flu deaths of 2017-2018 flu season was reported from southeast Ohio on Wednesday.

A 4-year-old boy from Montogomery County died from the flu— adding to the 1,750 confirmed flu-associated hospitalizations in the first week of January, which is an increase compared to the 925 reported cases in the last week of December.

On Wednesday afternoon, a one-year-old boy from Lucas County also died as a result of the flu.

Health officials said the 2017-2018 flu season is looking similar to the 2014-2015 season, which was reported as the most severe flu season in recent years.
