This is Piper.
She's one of the children we talked to as part of a series we are working on with University Hospitals and Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
Piper is currently battling Ewing Sarcoma after being diagnosed less than a month ago.
Ewing Sarcoma is very rare, affecting only about 200 children and young adults each year in the United States.
Piper's mother, Kari, told us how she found out her daughter had cancer:
"We were on vacation in South Carolina and she was bitten by some mosquitos on a dolphin cruise and some of the bites were on her right foot which swelled and when the swelling didn't go down we took her to the doctor and ended up in the emergency room. They thought it was a bone infection. We got transferred down to Rainbow. We thought it was a mosquito bite."
