PARMA, Ohio - A 14-year-old disabled student was the victim of bullying at Parma Senior High School February 28 during gym class and police said his teacher did nothing to stop the incident.
Gregg Mellinger, 49, was cited endangering
According to the police report, volleyballs were thrown at the victims head knocking him to the ground by a 14-year-old male juvenile.
As the victim was getting back on his feet, a female student kicked him in the groin knocking him to the floor again.
Mellinger was substitute teaching the class. He walked over to the victim, who was lying face down on the gymnasium floor, and dispersed a crowd who had gathered around the victim. Mellinger then walked away and continued instructing class in another corner of the gym.
Another pair of male students then approached the victim and began sliding into him while he was lying on the floor.
The victim was dragged by his feet across the floor by a fellow student. Two other students then squatted over the victim and simulated obscene acts near his head.
Mellinger was charged with endangering children. Two male juveniles and one female were charged with assault and another two male juveniles were charged with disorderly conduct.
The Parma Police Department is still investigating the incident.
