CINCINNATI - The student who shot himself at La Salle High School last month has been upgraded from critical to serious condition Thursday morning.
The student is in serious condition at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, according to a hospital representative.
The student had been in critical condition since the shooting.
On April 29, the honors-level student walked into a classroom and tried to end his life.
The teacher inside the classroom told investigators the 17-year-old was seated at the front of the room and struggled to chamber a handgun before placing the gun to his right temple and pulling the trigger. Officials said the student used a .45-caliber, semi-automatic handgun taken from the gun safe in his home.
NewsChannel5's sister station in Cincinnati is not releasing the boy's name.
