The Ohio Department of Education released Thursday information on how school districts performed during the last school year.
Cleveland Metropolitan School District received a failing grade in every category. Some of the categories include: student achievement, annual progress, gap closing, graduation rate, K-3 literacy and prepared for success.
Graduation rates were also incorporated in report cards along with literacy progress for struggling readers from kindergarten to third grade and a measure of how well students are prepared to succeed beyond high school.
This is the first year the state gave letter grades in all 16 categories.
Warrensville Heights City Schools also received a failing grade in all 16 categories.
Two out of 609 school districts received an A on the performance index. Ottawa Local Schools in Lucas County was the only district to obtain an A for all categories.
The dip in test scores is no surprise. Grade have declined in the last few years as schools continue to adjust to testing changes and higher score expectations.
