CLEVELAND - The principal of SuccessTech Academy received minor injuries Thursday in what the school district is calling an "incident" at the downtown Cleveland high school.
Cleveland Metropolitan School District safety officers responded and questioned a female student allegedly involved. The officers also consulted with the Cleveland Police Department to determine next steps.
"We take this, and all safety incidents in our schools, seriously," said Roseann Canfora, the school district's communications officer.
"In this case today, as in any cases where a student poses any threat to the safety of staff or other students, our staff and security officers responded quickly and appropriately to the situation and will enforce the strictest discipline."
Canfora said she didn't know the circumstances surrounding the incident because it was still being investigated.
"The CEO's recent authorization to increase the number of security officers in schools district-wide is part of our ongoing commitment to school safety and our zero-tolerance for any incident that threatens the safety of students or staff in any of our schools," she said.
