CLEVELAND - The Flats' East Bank project is moving forward.
Concrete trucks began pouring tons of concrete at about 7 a.m. Tuesday to lay the foundation for downtown Cleveland's newest office building, which is part of the Flats' renovation project.
Tuesday morning was the first of nine concrete pours needed to establish the project's foundation. The Flats economic development plan includes an 18-story office building, hotel, fitness center, restaurants, and a beach.
Cleveland was once known for the Flats, but it slowly died off as other areas of the city found new life.
The total job will be about 1,400 tons of concrete, over 700 yards, equal to about three or four city blocks, and will take about two years to complete.
