Fruitcake, casseroles, potato pancakes are among the favorite dishes appearing at holiday dinners and parties.
No matter what you choose, most of us love to indulge in all the special types of foods the holiday season brings, but there are many folks who don’t always have that luxury.
And that’s where the Greater Cleveland Food Bank steps in.
“Right now, I have all my food in my freezer, because they have been giving us this for so long, and it’s so nice and I enjoy it,” said Rose Royal, who benefits from the Cleveland Food Bank often.
She’s been able to do her shopping for free at the Euclid Senior Center.
Everything there is provided by Cleveland Food Bank donations.

Royal says it’s getting harder as she ages to get out in the holiday rush for her Christmas meal items-items like fresh produce, bread, and other groceries, sometimes even meat.
That’s what is distributed to nearly 130 people every week at that location.
Back at the warehouse, Kristin Warzocha, CEO, for the Cleveland Food Bank said this time of year is especially busy for them, as they’re trying hard to make sure no one in Northeast Ohio goes hungry.
“In the winter, a lot of families are struggling between putting food on the table and paying for utilities or heating bills, and we want folks in our community to be able to do both,” she said.
So far the food bank has received a large number of volunteers, at all their 800 agencies, but they are always in need of more hands and most importantly more food.
