Investigators have not ruled out any possible causes for the plane’s disappearance and have questioned the route the plane took, according to the Associated Press. The plane was carrying 239 passengers.

8:50 a.m. today: Speculation mounts that the plane could have landed on a small island in the Indian Ocean, CNN reports. But Dennis Giles, editor of the Andaman Chronicle newspaper, said the plane could not have landed on the tiny island without attracting attention.

8:31 a.m.: The search for the missing plane extends toward India, according to an AP report.

6:01 a.m.: Radar showed the plane was intentionally flown off course toward the Indian Ocean, according to a Reuters report. The news raises concerns of foul play.
