Thousands of scams are circulating daily, many of them right here in Cleveland. So, how do you make sure you're not the next victim? The Better Business Bureau has a tool you can use to protect yourself--it's called Scam Tracker.

Carla Kindall is one of many, who've reported a scam to the Better Business Bureau--a phony IRS call.

She told newsnet5.com, if she hadn't noticed the red flags, she could have lost everything.

"I could have lost everything. Everything! My whole bank account would have been gone," she said.

Kindall's story is one of thousands you can find on Scam Tracker.

Sue McConnell, president of the Better Business Bureau, told newsnet5, the website can be a great tool.

"It can save you a lot of heartache and headache and sleepless nights, and keep you from losing thousands of dollars," McConnell said.

Once on the site, you use the map or a keyword to zoom in on where you live, scams reported in that area pop right up.

"There are people who report scams to us that have lost hundreds of thousands of dollars and they take time to warn other people, so it does not happen to them," she said.

McConnell said it's smart to check the site regularly, so you're aware of scams seen in the area that could affect you or a family member.

If you've been a victim of the scam, report it to the Better Business Bureau.
