'CoolSculpting' may help you lose fat in trouble spots by freezing it during short procedure

From love handles to a muffin top -- are there areas on your body that no matter what you do, just won't go away?

There is a hot new trend that promises to make those trouble spots disappear without having to go under the knife.

It's called CoolSculpting.

Doctors said it's a quick, easy and relatively painless cosmetic procedure.

It requires only one treatment.

The treatment is recommended for people who are in relatively good shape, but can't get rid of those stubborn bulges of fat.

"Someone who's been to the gym, lost some weight, is comfortable with where they are fitness wise, but still has a persistent area like the muffin top," said Dr. Michael Cohen, a certified plastic surgeon.

The procedure can be done on both women and men.

So how does CoolSculpting work?

The treatment involves using cooling plates to freeze the fat off. Doctors mark the target area and place a gel pad on the skin to protect it from the cold temperature.

It's called a "lunchtime procedure." One treatment lasts an hour.

Doctors said it can take up to 3 months for the patient to really see a difference.

The average price for CoolSculpturing is between $1,500 and $2,000.
