Hired to take care of family pets, but seen on surveillance cameras doing something totally different.
A family in Westlake says they trusted Camp Bow Wow's "Home Buddies" pet-sitting service until now.
"It is just is unbelievable! Not even a possibility of what we expected," said customer Cathy Cheshire.
Cheshire said she and her husband watched the house on their in-home surveillance cameras.
"The house was dark. One light on," she said.
She was worried that their sitter wasn't there when he was supposed to be.
"He was nowhere to be found."
Cheshire walked News 5 through it because she said the cameras were live, not recording at the time.
She said the dog sitter eventually showed up.
"He walked past our dogs; he didn't look at them or acknowledge them. He went to microwave, not sure what he was doing there. And then he started rummaging through all of our drawers... he went down into our basement. Then he went upstairs," she said.
Cheshire said they called Camp Bow Wow, but couldn't get a solid answer. She said they were told a manager or owner was not available.
They packed up and drove home from vacation early, in the wee hours of the morning.
According to Cheshire, she never got a real apology from the company — just a bill and an excuse.
"They said he heard we had a really cool basement, from other dog walkers who had been in our phone and he was probably looking for a phone charger."
News 5 reached out to Westlake's Camp Bow Wow for their side of the story. We heard back from the company's PR firm. They issued this statement in response:
