MEDINA ,Ohio - A community came together Saturday night to help Bowling Green State University students who were hurt in a serious car crash.
Bunkers Golf Course in Medina, Ohio hosted a fundraiser for Angelica Mormile of Garfield Heights and Kayla Somoles of Cleveland.
The two survived a deadly car crash in March when a 69-year-old woman from Perrysburg was going the wrong way on Interstate 75 in Wood County. The crash killed the wrong-way driver, as well as Rebekah Blakkolb, 20, of Aurora; Sarah Hammond, 21, of Yellow Springs and Christina Goyett, 19, of Bay City, Mich.
All five students were members of the Alpha Xi Delta Women's Fraternity and were heading to the airport in Detroit for spring break at the time of the crash.
"The turnout is amazing and I just want to thank everybody for being here and everybody as a community really came together and supported Angelica and Kayla during this tough time for the families," said Tiffany Mormile, the sister of crash survivor Angelica Mormile.
