Two words for Ohio University football fans: Road trip!
Those supporting the Bobcats heading to the Beef ‘O’Brady’s Bowl in Florida have plenty of options for places to stop along the way. Those who aren’t Bobcat fans might also find some gems along our Roadtrippers.com map of hot spots.
OU alum know the bricks of Court Street and College Green are a hard to leave, but add a couple local southern smokehouses and two breweries in the mix and it is a great escape.
The first stop on the list is Sam’s Hot Dog Stand in Charleston, W. Va. for its secret chili sauce. Before hitting the game at Tropicana Field and Ferg’s Sports Bar in St. Pete, there are two smokehouses and NoDa Brewing Company in Charlotte, N.C., a local brewery specializing in premium microbrewed beers.
In between some diners and a look at the University of Florida Gators football stadium, take a tour of the Anheuser-Busch brewery in Jacksonville, Fla. Visitors there will sample some of the company’s beers, including an Athens drinker’s staple, Natural Light.
After the game fans may soak up the sun on the St. Pete beaches.
