CLEVELAND -- Cleveland police released one of the two men they were holding in connection with the Gina DeJesus investigation, NewsChannel5 reported.

Gina was 14 years old when she disappeared more than two years ago.

Police spent the day Friday digging up around a house one suspect lived in, after getting a tip Gina's body was buried under its garage. Police found nothing.

Other people who live in the home are speaking out.

"I just want everybody to know we're clean. We have no convictions, nothing against us," said Andy Woile.

He and his wife rent the basement apartment from Matthew Hurayt.

"Don't associate everybody in this house with being a sexual offender," said Avila Wilson.

He also rents a room at the house.

They said they didn't know Hurayt was a registered sex offender. They were shocked police dug up his garage looking for Gina's body.

The renters said that Huryat's brother gave police the false tip to look for Gina's body after being arrested for a robbery spree in Lorain County. Another source confirmed that information for NewsChannel5.

"I feel whoever they got the tip from should be put all over the media too," Wilson said.

He said police pulled up carpeting and emptied safes. Police said officers took 19 items from the home, but they may not related to Gina's case.

Wilson said the home is clean, taken care of and he is just relieved Friday is history.

"Just to be associated with the missing girl, that's a bad label to have on you. I feel bad for the family," Wilson said.

Police also tore up concrete slabs from the garage and dog house. The people who live in the home want to know if the city will fix and clean up the mess.

"Have to have more evidence. You just can't take a man's word and destroy a house with no evidence," Wilson said.

Cleveland police said they're doing their job trying to help Gina's family.

Police do not plan to charge Hurayt in Gina's case. He will remain in the Cuyahoga County Jail on a separate case involing felony assault.

John McDonough, the other man police arrested during Friday's investigation, was released by police and not charged.

Hurayt's attorney called the police investigation "a fairytale." He wants an explanation from the police, and for the city to fix the garage.
