CLEVELAND -- Cleveland's west side neighborhood came together Saturday night to remember officer Jonathan Schroeder. He was killed while serving an arrest warrant to Wilson Santiago early Thursday morning at a house on West 98th Street and Kirkwood Road.About 200 people, escorted by police cruisers, silently walked to the scene where Schroeder was shot and killed and placed flowers at a growing memorial, NewsChannel5 reported. The vigil was a chance for those who knew him, and those who did not, to say thank you and goodbye. It was a community Schroeder lived in, a community he protected and a community he gave his life for. That community came together to honor and celebrate a man they call a hero."We all are feeling devastating hurt for losing AJ so senselessly, violently," said Commancer Thomas McCartney.Members of Cleveland City Council, brothers in blue and Police Chief Mike McGrath also showed their support and sent condolences to a family mourning privately."We're here tonight to show sympathy, convey to his broken hearts, and how close we are to them," said Councilman Jay Westbrook.Santiago was charged with one count of aggravated murder with law enforcement specifications. He is being held in jail without bond.
