CLEVELAND -- The city of Cleveland is a step closer to hosting the Republican National Convention.It has been confirmed that a nine-member site survey committee will be coming to town in August to see what the city has to offer.The RNC confirms that New York, Minneapolis, and Tampa would also get a visit in August.As part of its proposal, Cleveland promised it could raise at least $25 million toward convention costsMany people think that Cleveland has what it takes."I think Cleveland's just as nice as Atlanta definitely, I think, the accommodations are better in Cleveland the traffic's better I think the people are friendlier up here," said Mark Melton, of Atlanta.City leaders hope Cleveland's waterfront and skyline will appeal to the committee.A final decision will be made in January.
