Councilman Reed Released From Jail

CLEVELAND -- Cleveland city councilman Zack Reed was released from jail Friday after serving 10 days for violating his probation on a drunken driving conviction.NewsChannel5 reported that upon release Reed was taken to the Ohio Alcohol Monitoring Systems on Cleveland's west side to have a device place on his ankle that will monitor Reed's alcoholic intake. The device will also notify officials if he drinks.

Sobriety Tests | Images: Reed Released Reed was asked by reporters if he received special treatment, but he refused to address that claim.Officials said Reed was assigned to a seven-bed infirmary instead of a dormitory with up to 65 inmates sleeping on bunks or floor mattresses. Reed also got to see visitors in a more private library setting and after regular hours. Cleveland safety director Martin Flask calls the treatment different but not preferential. The warden said he wanted to protect Reed from political enemies.
